Lincom NZ now with Stevens Group

Last month the Stevens Group bought the New Zealand subsidiary of the Lincom Group. This included all of Lincom NZ’s machines and parts stock, and the sales rights to its represented brands, including Powerscreen, Terex Washing Systems, Pronar, Anaconda, Rapid International, and Kiverco.

Stevens Group general manager Ken Johnston says the purchase fits perfectly with the group’s aspirations to grow its own machinery and equipment business into the quarry, mining, and recycling sectors.

“The two businesses share many synergies. Key to us is that we only represent world-class brands and have the right people with the right knowledge to best serve the customers. The purchase of Lincom NZ achieves both of these.”

Ken says taking all of Lincom NZ’s existing staff into the Stevens Group was a key part of the transaction.

“Because good people are everything. My Team and I are confident that the same timeless three rules that Dad and Grandpa instilled into the business over the past 48 years will help the brands take a fresh burst of energy in the New Zealand market.”

Ken says those rules are: You must have parts on the shelf in NZ when you are at the bottom of the world; you can’t sell from an empty barrow; and look after the customer and they will look after you.

Lincom Group chief executive officer Stephen Watterson, who was over from Australia for the handover iterates that the acquisition strengthens the Stevens Group market offering and will position them as the market leader for crushing, screening and materials handling equipment here.

“Both companies share a common vision, and the Stevens Group has some great growth plans in its business! This acquisition is part of their platform to expand into other developed markets.”

Lincom NZ general manager Lincoln Rayner says the transition will be seamless and easy for customers who are familiar with Lincom NZ and its brands and all its employees will retain their existing contact details.

“We’re excited for this opportunity to join Stevens Group. As a wholly owned New Zealand company with an established staff of 30 plus staff and a huge inventory – along with plenty of experience in customer service – this is an excellent move for us.

“The team was excited when they saw the Stevens Group parts facility which is world class and already has 20,000 plus different line items. Along with their excellent in-house workshop facilities and manufacturing capability, it’s a great step forward in our ability to act quickly and help the customer.”

The Steven’s Group is a third-generation family-owned business founded in 1974 importing, distributing, and manufacturing world-class machinery throughout the country.

It has sold well-known machinery Brands such as Walker & Hustler mowers for over 30 years and has been a successful recycling dealer for companies such as Morbark and Doppstadt.
